I can see clearly now...

Today was one of the greatest days of my life! For the past 23 years of my life I haven’t been able to see very well I’ve had a bad astigmatism in both eyes. I have tried tons of different brands of contacts made especially for people with astigmatism's and different styles and colors of glasses. I couldn’t ever wear the contacts very long because they always ended up getting blurry making my vision worse than if I didn’t wear them at all. I hated wearing glasses and always having something sitting on my face in front of my eyes.... Maybe I didn’t really give it a chance. Either way I hated them. Finally after getting sick and tired of the headaches and not being able to see, I started checking into the Lasik eye surgery.

One nurse at the eye doctor told me that I should wait until I am older and the quality of the procedure gets better. Another told me that it was a great idea and I should have it done. After talking with lots of people and doing some research I decided to make an appointment and make sure I was a candidate for it. Once they did a bunch of different tests they said I was a great candidate and I should definitely have it done. So I made my appointment two weeks later.
On March 6th I drove down to Barnet Dulaney Perkins- Eye Center in Phoenix and had it done. It was the most amazing thing ever!

There was a lot of sitting around involved when you first get there and after they give you some medication. The first part of the procedure only takes 45 seconds they cut flaps in your eyes, which you can’t feel of course because your eyes are numb. They scary part was when they were done with this part you open your eyes and you can’t see anything. It was completely black as if I was blind. Then they take you to the second procedure across the room where they put a laser on your eyes. This only took 45 seconds also. After that you are finish and they put more eye drops in your eyes and you are finished. The rest of the day it hurt to open my eyes, it felt like there was dirt everywhere in my eyes. So I took a Tylenol PM and slept the rest of the day. They say the more you sleep the better you will be able to see. The first two days everything was completely blurry and cloudy I couldn’t see at all but the more I slept the better it got. I had to put 4 different types of eye drops in every hour for the first week, and I couldn’t wear any make up. Everything was so amazing I could see so perfect! I recommend it to anyone and everyone that is interested! Its the best thing i've ever done!!!!! Oh and..... My vision is now 20/20 in both eyes! =)

This was the day after my eye surgery. It was my friend Mikes birthday so he came down to phoenix for my surgery the day before and then for his birthday the next day we went to a baseball game. I still couldnt see that great and everything was really bright without my sunglasses on. It was a lot of fun! Happy Birthday Mike! =)
