In May my friend Amber and I were able to make a trip out to Washington D.C to see our best friend Tana that had moved there a few months before. Little did we know that booking reservations through a travel agency MONTHS in advance could cause such problems...
I left Flagstaff and drove to Phoenix Wednesday afternoon, picked up Amber and headed straight for the airport. We got there with more than plenty time to spare. Once we got up to the ticket counter we both double checked our phones to check the time and not a single person was around. Nobody at the ticket counter, nobody standing in line nobody near by at all…
After checking all over the airport for someone to come help us figure out what was going on they did some research and told us that our flight had left that morning and was changed a few weeks ago. They said the travel agency that we had booked our flight with should have sent us an email letting us know. We apparently didn’t get that one, and they obviously weren’t aware that we had sent them one the night before verifying our flight was still going at the same time as originally planned. They sent us a response that same day that we were going to the airport saying nothing had changed and our flight was still good. Well someone was wrong…
So they told us the only thing we would be able to do is come back at 6am the next morning and be on standby ALL day for all of the flights and hope that we could get on one of those. Depressed as we were we said okay and left back to Amber’s house.
Bright and early the next morning we went to the airport again with no such luck. Waiting around until 8pm just to get rejected! Not to mention that not a single airport employee cared to hear our sad story about nobody telling us our flight had been changed. So we got our bags and headed back for Ambers house.
Amber had been on the phone the ENTIRE day sitting at the airport with managers of several different departments of the airport and the travel agency that we booked our flight with still getting us no where. Next we had to decide should we come back tomorrow (Friday) and try and get on standby list again or make the best of our time off of work and plan out another vacation??? I voted NOT to sit at the airport another day and to plan something else. Amber voted against me.
But FINALLY on the drive back to her house our luck had changed! We finally caught our break!!! Some VERY nice manager lady felt extremely bad for us for having to go through all that we did and compensated us with 1st class seats on the next available flight (Friday early morning) and…. $100.00 refund for both of our one way tickets and two free nights at any hotel!! No this did not make up for the two days we wasted sitting at the airport but at least we could still go on our trip for the last two days before we had to fly back on Sunday morning. Needless to say the trip was awesome once we finally made it there. Everything was SO GREEN! It was great spending time with two of my best friends!

Walking to one of the monuments... If you cant tell that is my sarcastic smile, I didnt like walking to see all the different monuments and going through all the museum's it brought back bad memories of going on boring field trips in school when I was a kid.

Great Falls- Border of Virginia and Maryland (BEAUTIFUL)!!!!!!!
